Im back!(once again)

Hey guys, Sorry for the long hiatus. We've been really busy with exams and more exams. Since almost all of us are students, we have to make time for our studies as well. Good news is I'm finally done with my Poly(college) days! Now I'm waiting for my attachment and start 'working' like an adult. OK enough of my stories. While we were away, this are some of the things that had happened.

Clifton Goh's Top 16 Worlds Report with Mew Prime/Accelgor!

Preface

An overwhelming sense of defeat gutted me as I took a long, hard glance at my final result for the World Championships. My total swiss score was an utterly abyssmal 1 - 6. Yes, 1 win and 6 losess, putting me at the 2nd last of the pile. The putrid stench that I felt hanging around me and engulfing me for losing this many games at the most prestigious (arguably) event of the year for Pokemon TCG felt like a shameful burden to bear. Nay, scratch that... it IS a tremendous burden. A truly unpleasant and unforgettable experience it was then. Its excruciating effects on my ego will never leave my side should I ever deign to recall this rueful day. This disgraceful mark on my Pokemon journey will forever be a blemish unto my name as a player for as long as I walk the Path of the Trainer. Even the very fact that my losses were against some of the very best in the business provided zero comfort. A loss is a loss, a failure always a failure, and being an utter disgrace to myself, my community and my friends who spurred me on and helped me was the only morbid reality I knew of then.

Sigilyph: Dragons Exalted card analysis

Hi guys! it is vincent here. i am doing slgilyph card analysis.
I bet most of you are aware this is the #1 or #2 anti-ex pokemon beside buffloant. As you can see from the photo on the left, the ability prevents all attack/damange/effects from ex-es.
This prevent darkrai from night spear-ing, during both active and bench. Mewtwo will have a hard time against it because of weakness. And it's psyhic attack is good against pokemon that have 3 or more energy attached. (80 damage with 1 psyhic and 1 dce).
Note that it is all effects means it can't be burned from entei ex.

One retreat cost makes sigilyph stronger. Being a basic pokemon, it could make use of skyarrow bridge for free- retreat.
I personally think that sigilyph promotes usage of stage 2 pokemon. Giving more varitey of pokemon to be used unlike HGSS on where most decks runs with massive ex-es. At least it gives everyone a chance to form a cheap deck to against expensive-ex-es decks.

Okay guys, i will sign off here. have fun in dragon series.

PS* recently i play against japan meta hydreg-drakrai and my deck was totally destroyed by it. twice to be precise. nvm i will think ways to counter it. hope to see you guys soon!

Dragons Exalted Pre release

Heyo everyone,

First of all, sorry for the late pre-release report due to school commitments and stuff.

Okay, i went saturday pre-lease at Bukit Batok(Singapore). Everyone was pretty excited about the new booster. We predicted the draft will go be manual energy attachment and ex-domination.

Before opening my 6 boosters, i was praying hard for registeel ex FA because i need it for the up coming deck i have been forming and testing. And by pulling it, i could save some money!

To my surprise, I did actually pulled a registeel ex and 1 hydregion.
Registeel EX from Dragons ExaltedHydreigon from Dragons Exalted

In this draft, some core cards are required to make your deck consistent or slight advantage,
Emolga from Dragons ExaltedStunfisk from Dragons ExaltedBouffalant from Dragons ExaltedGiratina EX from Dragons Exalted

If you start with emogla you can simply call your ex-es or support pokemon.
Stunfisk can easily deal 20+ 20 damage with 1 energy
Bouffalant can deal 120 damage to ex-es.
Giratina can shear 90 damage and whack through sigilyph.
Sigilyph from Dragons ExaltedThroh from Dragons ExaltedYanma from Dragons Exalted
I did a steel and fighting pokemon with registeel ex, emogla, throh, 2 durant, 2 yanma. I dont have a single 1-1 line pokemon so i had to stick to my registeel ex as finisher.
First game i had a 1-4 prize lead because my registeel ex knocked out 3 of his 60 Hp pokemon. However the  giratina ex FA he had knocked out my registeel ex, and i knew i can't recover from the knocking out of my ex. =(

the rest of the 4 games i won easily due to starting with emgola twice and using throh to knocked out opponents 1 pokemon.

My another 2 booster as prize pulled a giratina nfa and 1 more hydregion. whaoooooo.

general comments about this series - I personally feel that i wouldn't whack so much booster as there are not much useful pokemons and there are no supporters =(. Probably i will buy singles to save up for blastoise =)
ex-es are good, but bouffalant is my best card in format. the trainers wise, tool scrapper open up options because eviolite has been "annyoing " to most because zekrom 130 with eviolite is a tough nut to crack.
Eviolite from Noble Victories (#91)
okay folks, time to sign off from here. train hard for BW on!

Team Robo Cup

As everyone knows, we had a fund-raising event (robo cup) for our Singapore Representative for Worlds.
The tournament format was big boy pants(why not girl?).

I believe there was an event somewhere in the world had big boy pants before. And i heard six prizes had published the meta for this format - zebeels tech archeops.
Archeops from Noble Victories (#67)

I personally feel that robo cup supposed to be a fun event that doesnt require meta. out of the 18 players i think at least 50% were playing zebeels tech archeops + cinccino (do the wave B&W).

BW ON format discussion.

Heyo, it is Vincent again!
In this post, we will discuss about BW on format. As everyone knows in this format we will lose alot of great cards such as junk arm, professor oak new theory, dual ball and etc.
I personally feel that BW will be more luck dependent as the loss of junk arm caused the decrease in stability.

In my previous Singapore nationals deck, i played hammer time + tech deck.

Robo Cup

Hello everyone. It's me again. Vincent the thor.

As you guys are aware, team robo cup is around the corner( next week to be precise).

the format is COL on with "big boys pants"( simply love the name)

Many different combination, no ex-es, no funny baby pokemon, no junk, no this no that.

some common pokemons are emboar, zebstrika + eels. Impressive!

I supposed it will be alot of trainer dependent deck for search pokemon. dual ball, ultra ball, level ball. i expecting alot of disconnect deck the day itself.

The past two weeks i have been rather busy with school stuff but i never forget to think about the interesting robo cup ruling. I have more or less formed my deck (in my brain) not yet physically formed yet =(
i am hoping to win  best creative deck. I will post my entire deck list after the event is concluded.

CHEERS
Vincent the thor.

Singapore Nationals: Top 16 report

Singapore Nationals Top16 @ funan It mall
After many play-testing,  a lot of online read up such as sixprizes.com, thedeckout.com. I managed to edit the deck suits to local play style.
While reading thedeckout, I was horrified about the sableeye hammer deck- finland nationals champion. *6 times to be precise*.  Because he kinda of leak out “secrets” of my deck. However our deck list is still a world apart different.  If u read his blog, he got 2 byes’ , mirror, followed by 6 corners.  More information (http://www.thedeckout.com/2012/05/6-time-national-champions-report.html)
Awesome deck list but… his opponents not much zekeels(I personally feel that is top tier #1 deck for eels consistency) other than the 1st turn being donk-part, there is nothing else you can complaint about this masterpiece.
Reached funan at 10.45am, registered and started playing 12.45pm~1pm. 7 swiss in total( my first endurance- comparable with my 42km marathon) .
My THOR deck because I look like thor?

Singapore Nationals - Set Up Report (Battle Roads)

Hello everyone, I am Vincent from Smugleaf! I just got back into pokemon a month ago.(I am new in pokemon, HGSS Format).  Nationals is my first major premier event. Pretty excited over it.
I prepared the deck when Dark Explorer came out. So ya. Bought 1 booster box, tons of blisters and countless of single packs. And I manage to get 5 darkrai-ex(3 nfa, 2 fa) and no tornadus(oh man).
The boosters are giving me signs that I have to play darkrai-ex deck* pondering like a girl*
So I have to get tornadus ex. Traded 1 off for darkrai + some fast cash, and sold 1 darkrai , bought 1 tornadus ex(BOOM).

Battle Frontier

Singapore states overview and a report

Sup guys how you doing! Hope everyone enjoyed themselves at Sg's States today.
In total there were about 90+ participants
Juniors: 9
Seniors: 12
Masters:70

Are we READY
For the Masters Division, there were 6 round of swiss and a top cut for the top 16 players. How I did for the tournament? I went 4-2 missing top cut at the 19th seed. :/ *oh well*
For those interested in my decklist for my Msia states or Sg states, can ask me personally.

I don't have the top 16 list as the first one I took has some errors and they had to be renewed and they were never printed. So no pic *okay.jpg*

Lets get down to the deck distribution for the top 16:

Top 8 Singapore States report

Hi guys. For those that don’t know me, i am Jeremy also known as Garami. For the event, i decided to play MessieMew/MessMew/MessyMew/Mees or whatever you wanna call it. The reason behind my deck choice was because i had been playtesting with the deck ever since ECC when Mess took the deck to top 16. I went on to play with the deck and fell in love with it as it’s one of those decks that has so many options and room to outplay others despite having many weakness.  Here’s the list i used for those who are interested:

Chase’s Singapore States Report < Seniors >

Early in the morning, I was still deciding between 3 decks. Durant, ZEel and Terrakion. But after nasty plotting in the toilet few minutes before the tournament, I decided to go with ZEel as it is the deck I playtested with the most.

Welcome our new members Chase and Reymus!

Thats right! We've just added a new SENIOR and a JUNIOR member to our team of writers and their names are CHASE and REYMUS! So as a senior/junior only, please pardon their short forms and language as they are really far from being a master, agewise. Till next time!

Singapore States in less than 24 hours!

Ahh singapore states.. so much good memories. My first premiere tournament when i just started last year. Didnt do too well with the score of 3-3. Its been a long time and it got me here to where I am now in this tcg.. Time to take revenge. Okay enough of the sentiments X)

Are you all ready for States championship? I know I'm not. So what you should do to prepare for the big event on the next day?

1. Have plenty of sleep/rest
2. Prepare your deck/bags
3. Remember to bring a pen to fill out your decklist
4. Eat seafood at 3am to ensure top cut

Getting 1st and 2nd is states is a big deal as not only you get lots of championship points, trophy, packs, you will also get a first round bye at SG Nationals. This means that you get a free 1-0 and all you have to do is win the other 5-6 rounds and you're in the top cut.

Wish us the best and hope that most of Team PCSG top cuts like what happened in Msia. 3 of our members made it to top 8~

We would also like to wish everyone the best of luck!

COTD:Emboar ability

Hey viewer! this is my first time writing and article and if i make any mistake please leave a comment.
Ability Inferno Fandango:As often as you like during your turn (before your attack you may attach a  FireEnergy from your hand to 1 of your pokemon   This pokemon is able to attach as many energy to any of your pokemon from your hand i would say that it's better than Typhlosion prime.

Typhlosion prime Poke-Power:Afterburner
Once during your turn (before your attack)
you may search your discard pile for a Fire
Energy and attach it to 1 of your pokemon. If you do,put 1 damage counter on that pokemon. This power can't be used if Typhlosion is affected by a special condition .

Why is Emboar better than Typhlosion prime?
1)Emboar may attached as many energy in 1 turn from your hand unlike typhlosion afterburner search your discard pile and attach a Fire Energy to that pokemon and put 1 damage counter .
2)if Typhlosion is affected by a special condition it can't use afterburner unlike Emboar if it's affected by a special condition it still can use it's ability Inferno Fandandgo.
3)Emboar HP is higher than Typhlosion prime.

COTD:Ampharos Prime HGSS

Hey viewers! had a sleepless night and decided to take abit of time off worrying bout the coming singapore states and write an article bout Ampharos Prime.
Lets take a closer look at this fully-grown sheep...

Ability :
Conductivity
''Whenever your opponent attaches an Energy card from his or her hand to 1 of his or her Pokémon, put 1 damage counter on that Pokémon.''

This ability stacks, which means if you managed to set up 2 of this card the opponent has to place 2 damage counters on their pokemon when ever an energy is attached FROM his/her hand to their pokemon.. and the word here is PLACE 2 damage counters, which means evolites and special metal or any other form of defence doesn't count here.

HP : 140
A decent hp i would say for a stage 2.

Attack :
LCC    Lightning Crush 40+''Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 40 damage plus 40 more damage. If tails, discard an Energy attached to the Defending Pokémon.''

Singapore States

Sorry for the lack of post guys! I'm sure you readers are sick everytime you visit this blog hoping to read a new article but end up seeing nothing new has been updated. Well thats because we are busy at the period of time.
Why are we so busy? oh thats because Singapore's states is coming and we are all busy playtesting.

Besides playtesting for the tcg, I have also recently picked up the pokemon black version and been busy training. I just finished the Elite 4 like a few days ago and have stopped playing and focusing more on the tcg side.
