Event ID: 13-05-000608 (Sanctioned Premier Event)
Event Date: 19th May 2013
Location: J Cube
Address: 60, Orchard Road, #B1-01, Dhoby Ghaut MRT

Today marks my 1 year anniversary in Pokemon Trading card Game. Last year, i gotten a 3rd place in Battle Roads Spring. Since i am out of CP's reach, i decided to make a more obtainable aim -> to get 2nd or 1st in battle roads.

Day 1 (18th May 2013)

Deck choice : Rouge Big basic deck with 3 enhanced hammer. (ya its' not 4. Those speculate how scary the deck was)
Reason : Predicted the failure of team plasma deck. So i didn't buy much booster for team plasma. Expecting deoxy to drop like Adele's skyfall.

Game 1 Jordan (Team Plasma)

Everything started of well. But i misplayed due to my over confidence, i benched way too much pokemon which caused to be huge liability. I drew badly late game. losing to 0-1 prize. because I N-ed jordan to 1 card and he drew the deciding energy for the keldeo 180 on my landy.

Lose 0-1

can't remember exact details,  Game 2 was against National Champion Reuben which i lost narrowly to 0-1 prize again. Game 3 won Purvis because he was playing some rouge deck which was easily run down by landy. Game 4 lost to someone new? again its 0-1 prize. And finally won Game 5 against eels.

Ended the day with a 2-3 score #nvm #day2

Day 2 (19th May 2013)
After a poor result from day1, i decided to go for better consistency big basic deck. I would like to thank irfan and belp for giving me suggestions on the deck. Especially belp came all the way down to jcube to lend me dowsing machine because noel was sleeping like a dead log with my dowsing machine. Without the dowsing machine, the deck wouldnt have pulled off nicely.

Deck choice : Pentagon
Meta predictions : darkrai, plasma, big basic, lock deck.

Okay. as way too many people ask me for my deck list, i shall publish only the pokemon line.

3Landorus EX
2Cobalion EX

1Ho Oh EX
2Kyurem
2Terrakion
1Shaymin EX

Yes. its a whacky list. 11 pokemon. Some may argued about starting with Ho-Oh or Shaymin ex. My person view is no pain no gain.

Why 2 kyurem?
After alot of testing, i feel that the best counter of kyurem, its kyurem itselfs.

Why cobalion ex?

The purpose of cobalion ex is to hit 30 and dropped special energy. and hits 60 to kyurem just in case your kyurem are unable to charge up. Together with enhanced hammer, i can strip kyurem naked from 3 energy to 1. Remember team Plasma kyurem has no trainers engine. it depends largely on thundurus ex

Why our old friend terrakion ?
Its an risk playing it. If you pokemon was knocked out by posion, you can't retaliate for 90. But remember, you play 2, and opponent has only 4 laser. so the probability of retaliate for 90 is quite huge. It does 180 to darkrai, thundurus, snorlex, etc. And darkrai in this format plays only dark claw as a tool. so its quite unlikely they will evolite or giant cape

Why shaymin ex?
it acts as an bait, it finish off keldeo after opponent takes your 2 prize. most decks play keldeo, unless its a lock deck.

Game 1 Reuben National Champion (Team Plasma)
Its always nice playing against National Champion. His deck is full of blinks, full arts. Definitely scares people off. I played against him yesterday so i more or less know how the deck works. I started with cobalion and he started with kyurem. *good start* i took down the kyurem T2 to make it 5-6. In plasma decks, users have no control over the 7th prize problem. they have to bench 2 deoxy, 1 thundurs and 1-2 kyruem. I am guessing he would bench another kyurem to hit 120 on landy. I bench terrakion to make him more nervous because its a 1 for 2 prize exchange.

Won 1-0

Game 2 PikaChoo (Darkrai deck)
In this game, i have to say in this format, dont assume what tech's or special stuff you opponents plays. I remembered pika choo played zoroark with darkrai. To my surprised, today he is playing a 1-1 Drifblim ?
I knew that i had to make use of my normal energies so as to force him drop his 1-1 line just in case. he salutes me with the 200 damage from 4 special energy from discard. The game was a bit long, because he is unsure how to react to 2 terrakion on bench. it went into a 2-5 when time was called. during his turn he junk hunt something which can easily take 3 prize the next turn. so i had to take 1 prize to make it 1-5 just in case. i used my bench ho-oh to do 80 damage to take down sableye. He then scoope the match.Gonna praise him for his deck as it has one of the  best tech so far.

Won 2-0

Game 3 Nelsen (Darkrai deck)
The first time i met nelsen, it was last year nationals. He is a semi-finalist playing in SNSD (shawn and nelsen secret deck). lol i somehow have that kinda of memory. He is also a regular worlds competitor. So at this stage, its a 2-0 v 2-0. Both of us started poorly, he drew dead, i drew dead also. But his supporting sableye gave him a more advantage over my starting Terrakion. As i was missing my max potion and draw engine, the prize count was quickly 2-5. I did not manage to take down the charged darkrai and he knock out my shaymin ex for the win

Lost 2-1

Game 4 Glenn (torandus, landy, bull), UpPaired with a 3-0.
Okay, i heard he beat belp in the previous round. Belp was using my darkrai deck. This big basic deck was probably last format deck and substituted with float stone. I am not sure if he is new or not. But he active-ed a landy and bench a landy. i active a landy ex. thats before the coin flips. so if i manage to go first, i will do extra 30 damage to his bench landy. So our faithful readers, please avoid such mistakes.
Thankfully for him, he won the coin flip.

Things went normally as landy, exchanged damages, heal, max pot, cobalion ex, etc, I manage to charge up a kyurem for the final 2 prize.

Won 3-1

Game 5 Belp (Against our deck - darkrai)
At the point, i knew that i have a huge chance of facing Belp or Jeremy cause both of them is the nearest 3-1,3-1. As i have faced nelsen (4-0), so i would probably face both of them. So wish came through, Nelson (4-0) vs glenn (3-1). I was praying Nelson to win, so he would win the BR with 5-0. Nelsen drew dead and lost to became 4-1.

Playing against friend is the worst shit ever. But we played a game to help belp practice for nats. He knew my list because he gave me suggestions etc. Things started poorly for both of us. we both N each other for 2 turns before things get moving. I knew that i had to set up 2 terrakion to scare him. LOL. I attached a big energy to terrakion which was the biggest misplay. because i can't energy switch to land crush to knock out a naked darkrai. The game some how reaches to a point where he was leading 3-5 with full bench. I catcher and took out the bench darkrai because he gonna max potion it after he juniper the follow turn. so i made it 3-3. he benched a keldeo, and i bench a shaymin to lure him to kill to make it 1-3. i somehow pull off a ho-oh rebirth for a enrgy switch for a land judgement on darkrai. so its a 1-1 on time. i had 1 energy search and 1 energy switch on hand. after which i switch out ho-oh, energy switch, energy search for the 3rd different energy to hit 80 on sableye or the absol? for the win.  Its nice playing against belp as he was last year nationals top 8 player. I remember both of us were playing hammer time for nationals!

Won 4-1

Comically, Nelsen, glenn and I were all 4-1. so resistance gonna play a big part. Nelsen beat me, i beat glenn, glenn beat nelsen. glenn ended up winning the BR by 2% ahead of me, while nelsen got 3rd. I narrowly beat nelsen by 1% resistance.

Gonna thank Irfan for coming to my house on friday to play test till 12am. And giving me feed backs about the deck. And special thanks for belp and beeping for coming down jcube to lend me the dowsing machine and all the suggestions to improve the deck.

To win, it takes practice and practice.
Stop the "luckgame" complaint and practice.
It is okay to lose, but never lose faith. One day, you will win.

New players buy deoxy ex, thunderus ex to ask for instant success. There is no such thing as instant success.

Proxy first and buy later. You would probably enjoy the game like i do

Pardon for my poor command of English. i am just pure lazy to proof read. I just type whatever comes to my mind. Forgive me.

PS - > I have ended Pokemon for this season as i will be heading europe for a month. So see ya guys after virizon ex is out =)

Signing off,
