Deck Analysis: Six Corner

S to the I to the X Corner! Say what? Six Corner! Yes this is a deck’s name, not some mathematical geometry. Now enough of being a cheerleader and lets get down to business (some lame humor)

This is also the 1 and only 6 corner that made the top cut in our Cities Championship last week.

Basic introduction to the deck

This deck is basically filled with heavy tankish pokemon with high hp. So this includes pokemons like the 3 dragons;Zekrom,Reshiram and Kyurem ,the 3 musketeers; Virizion,Coballion,terrakion and maybe the 3 genie might see some play too; Tornadus,Thundurus,Landorus.

This deck purpose and aim is to take down and counter any deck that you face by hitting for their weakness.

This deck is definitely not suitable for new comer or beginners as in order to use this deck, you need to know what the meta is, what certain deck does and you need to know how to react to situations and be able to think ahead of your opponent.

Another thing to add is, this deck does not have a SOP to it (Standard of Procedure). This means that every match, you are most likely having a different field and different strategy.

What the above mentioned pokemon does?

For Mr Bolt Strike;Zekrom, Its purpose is just to tank and then outrage the opponent. Seldom you have to use the bolt strike to attack. Unless you really need the damage, you can always use the rainbows,bolt strike, then save them by celebrating wind-ing it away. (Use against water decks)

Mr Blue Flare;Reshiram, Its purpose is similar with Zekrom. To outrage for damage and hit for weakness. This is to attack decks that are weak to fire like Secret Garden or decks with Coballion which are quite popular lately.

Mr glaciate;Kyurem. Again,same as the other 2 dragons, used for it’s outrage. This card is the key when it comes to match up against Donphan variants and Tyrams. Donphan will not dare to even earthquake a kyurem. It really helps to tank damage,same as the other dragons like ive mentioned before.

Virizion, the starter for this deck. Its purpose in the early game is help you fill up your hands with it’s attack, Dual Draw. For a colourless, it allows you to draw 2 cards. Which is good to help you get all your attackers and energies. After that, all it needs to do is leaf wallop for 40 and then 80 consistently. 2 Energies for 80 damage? Good enough.

Terrakion is here to serve as a revenger. It is also here to help take down pokemons with fightning weakness. Why him instead of the Afro G;Bouffalant? Its because, terrakion has a higher HP, weakness to grass (which is great) and can x2 the most popular deck right now; Magzeel.

Coballion, the counter for kyurem,which are running rampage now in the form of Kyugatr or CaKe. It is also useful to stall time by locking the opponent.

A brief mention about the 3 genies. You dont really have to play them but if you think that the meta in your area is donphans, you should be teching in tornados or if your meta is filled with lightning,you can tech in landorus.

Next key card is the S is ZPST. Yes Shaymin. What Shaymin does in this deck is to help you shift around your energies. Like your rainbow and double colourless energies, which are limited in your deck. This is also a great card if you are going to change attacker or when your active is about to be knocked out.

As you can see there are some spaces which are left out. This is up to you how you want the deck to run. For  T/S/S you can run about any of the staples T/S/S in this format and as for Energies, if you are planning to run a heavier count of fightning pokemon, run 3-4 more fightning energy or if you’re going for coballion, more metal energies.

Techs

1.ABSOL PRIME! Can also serve as a starter, this is to damage your opponent’s pokemon when they place it down on their bench. It is also a good card to counter Chandelure decks which are doing very well.If you do play absol prime, do remember to add in a couple of darkness energy!

2. Unown (cure) Yes you heard me right. This is a very good tech especially when you’re up against Vaniluxe/Vileplume/Vicitini, secret garden or even chandelure.

Conclusion

In conclusion, this deck is a very versatile deck, it is also known for it’s react and adapt nature. DO have fun trying out this deck. The above list is just a skeleton to what I think should be in the deck. So take it with a pinch of salt.
